UPDATE: Mar. 10, 2025, 2:37 p.m. EDT It has been a roller coaster day for X. The site has crashed and rebounded numerous times throughout Monday. Elon Musk has now claimed that X was crashing because of an attack. Musk wrote on X: "There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved."

X appeared to have crashed on Monday. Elon Musk's website wouldn't load for some users in the early hours of Monday, either on desktop or mobile.

Down Detector showed a sharp spike in user-reported issues with X starting around 9:30 a.m. ET on Monday. (Full disclosure: Down Detector is owned by Ziff Davis, the same parent company as Mashable.)

I tried to load X on my computer and through the mobile app on my phone, but neither would update or bring in new posts. Folks on other sites, like Bluesky, also posted about the site being down.

X appeared to be on the rebound about an hour after the issues began being reported on Down Detector. I was able to load posts, albeit a bit slower than usual on the website starting around 10:30 a.m. ET. Reports of issues began to fall on Down Detector as well.
